With so many bolts available these days it is essential to understand the strengths and weaknesses different bolts have when compared to one another. The below table outlines some useful properties that are required for design purposes for some of the more commonly encountered bolt types. If there is any doubt about any of the properties, the manufacturer or supplier should be contacted. When substituting bolts, an engineer should be consulted.
